Comprehensive Hygiene Services
Healthy gums are the foundation for healthy teeth. It is our aim to manage your gum health through stability and maintenance.
Gum disease (gingivitis advancing to periodontitis) is a serious problem that affects at least 75% of the population. We made it our aim to fight it and prevent it from ruining your lovely smile. Not only does it affect your smile, your breath, your confidence but your general health as well. Studies have shown that gum infections (gingivitis/periodontitis) is linked to heart disease, low birth weight and diabetes to name just a few.
Periodontal disease is probably one of the most common diseases in the world. At risk groups such as diabetics and smokers are more vulnerable. UK Adult Health Survey (1998) showed approximately 50% adult population of England and Wales have moderate and 8% have severe periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is not an inevitable part of life and research has shown that much can be prevented by changes in behaviour.
By eliminating and reducing risk factors significant improvement can be achieved as was found in this case. However long-term stability can only be maintained with a good self-efficacy home care regime by the patient. Regular sessions with the practice can help patients maintain and even improve his gum health further.
Many factors may influence your gum health and a thorough assessment will lay down the appropriate foundations of your care.
